-this script hides the selected objects, creating an internal list lasting for the current session -use: -to initialize the script: 1- source it in the maya script editor; 2- copy it in the scripts folder and either run the command "hideToList" in the script editor/command line, or make a button with it; -the "Hide And Add To List" button hides the selected objects and adds them on the list; -the "Show Objects In List" button selects and shows the objects in the list; the list remains the same; -the "Hide Objects In List" button selects and hides the objects in the list; the list remains the same; -the "Delete The List!" button deletes the list from the memory; CAUTION!- the objects remain hidden, they should be revealed manually, because the list is deleted for good!
tested only on Windows (XP, 2K) and Linux (SUSE 10.0), but should work on others, too.
