Feature Request

Simple face bones

Hi Dustin, with the power of unity increasing and how common mocap is - I am able to do it to a acceptable level for mobile with kinect and unity, and various other tools to automate the process, im wondering if you can implement basic bones to allow at the very least a "flapping" mouth to indicate talking/dialogue. Blendshapes are extremely costly alternative. Thanks.

I do plan on building some sort of face control system. However this is only in the planning stage and I have other things that are higher priority. However, in the mean time you can add in additional joints for the specific control you want for the face. The tough thing about creating a face rig system is there are so many variables; blend shapes vs joints vs deformers, channel sliders vs facial controls vs Osipa-style controls. And there are a lot of edge cases, like a system that would work for a snout or a creature with several eyes. The proportions and features of faces can be incredibly diverse so there is no silver bullet for a face rig. But I am going to eventually build something that I feel will match most of the criteria.
