Question about Rapid Rig

Date:04/03/2014
Submitted by: Eric Turgott Eric Turgott
Hey,

I am looking into purchasing the advanced version or the modular version for this. I would rather purchase the modular version because of the multiple different rigs I can make but it only seems to support 2011 maya and up but I have maya 2009. Does this just means it's not tested for versions below 2011 or is there a reason for the version restriction?

Thanks.

Hi Eric, I ran into some issues with the Rapid Rig Modular UI in Maya 2009. It works fine on OSX, but not Windows and I couldn't figure out why. I don't have Maya 2010 to test against so I am not supporting older versions than 2011. Rapid Rig Advanced has a far simpler UI and it works in the older versions. -Dustin

Hey Dustin, if Rapid Rig Modular works fine on OSX I will definitely look into purchasing that. I have Maya 2009 OSX. Thanks.

Hi Eric, It does work in 2009 on OSX, and I just updated the Selector script that comes with Rapid Rig Modular. There is one issue with the RRM UI in that the buttons for changing the colours of controls and proxies won't inherit the size that I have specified in the script. As a result, the buttons are too large and most of them are cut off. This doesn't impact functionality of the tools, it just means you can't change the colours of the proxies or controls which isn't necessarily a huge deal. -Dustin
