I know this has been done time and time again, however I have gotten used to the simple setup I've been using.

Simply select an object and run the script, it'll do the rest. Once created, on the parent node of your selected object (it will create a group named <object>Shaker#) you will see some custom attributes below the 'visibility' attribute. By default, the magnitude is off or set to 0. Turn this up and you'll start seeing some jitter. Animate it over time to fade the jitter on and off!

magnitude: how strong is the jitter?
frequency: how jumpy is it, lower values make smoother motion while higher values make it very choppy.
offset: good to vary these. these make it so that the XYZ values aren't identical, essentially pushing the noise curve in time so every axis will jitter at its own intervals!

Enjoy!
